McALLEN, 17 Jan. - Mission played four games in two days at the McAllen ISD Open Tournament at the De León Soccer Complex, and came out on top.

The Lady Eagles defeated Donna 1-0 on a goal by Brittny Madden in the championship match Saturday to claim the 2013 McAllen ISD Open Tournament title.

Mission advanced to the title game after surprising McAllen in penalty kicks in the semifinal match.

The Lady Eagles got off to a good start at the competition with a 2-1 first-round victory over Pasadena Rayburn that placed them in the winners bracket.

In the quarterfinals, Mission replicated their first round result against La Joya Palmview, who beat PSJA North 4-0 in the opening round.

The Lady Bravettes outlasted San Benito 3-2 in the first round and eliminated Brownsville López 4-1 in the quarterfinals. Donna advanced to the final with a 2-1 win over PSJA Memorial, who defeated Mission Veterans Memorial 4-2 in the previous round.

In the third place match, McAllen blanked Mission Veterans 3-0.
