McALLEN, 17 Nov. - América Martínez scored the game-winning goal to lift McAllen Memorial past Sharyland Red 1-0 in the championship match of the McAllen Invitation preseason tournament held on Nov. 12.

The Lady Mustangs advanced to the semifinals after compiling a 2-1-0 record. Memorial slipped past Sharyland White 1-0 in the opening game of group play, and beat La Joya 2-1 in the second game. The Lady ‘Stangs ended the first round with a scoreless draw against city rival McAllen Rowe.

In the semifinals, Memorial defeated La Joya Palmview 2-1 to advance to the championship final of the eight-team tournament. In the other semifinal, Sharyland Red beat McAllen Rowe in a penalty kick shootout after playing to a scoreless tie in regulation time.
