PHARR, 3 Aug. - The South Texas Premier Soccer Association and the Soccer-For-All League will co-host the first 18-and-Under summer interleague All-Star Game series when the Valley’s top soccer talent faceoff in an East meets West battle on Aug. 9 and 16.
The first leg of the series will kick off at 7 p.m. on Aug. 9 at the Brownsville Sports Park in Olmito. The second leg of the series will be played at Valley View High School Stadium in Hidalgo on Aug. 16 at 7 p.m.
"This is a great opportunity for the young soccer talent in the Valley to show off their skills in front of the community," said STXPSA co-organizer Miguel Puente. "This is one of the projects we’ve been working hard to accomplish, and we’re thankful that it’s all coming together with the help of the players, coaches, parents and the wonderful people at Valley View ISD."
The STXPSA West All-Stars will be comprised of players selected from the inaugural 11-team 18-and-Under Summer League that kicked off in May. The STXPSA’s Summer League is made up of teams from La Joya to San Benito and is currently in the last stages of the regular season.
Representing the Lower Valley, the Soccer-For-All East All-Stars were selected from among a dozen participating teams from the Brownsville and Harlingen area.
