McALLEN, 30 April. - Necias defeated Outlaws 2-0 and Black Angels played Tuzas to a hard-fought, last minute 1-1 draw in the Semifinals to advance to the McAllen Amateur Soccer Association Final.
Necias will face Black Angels in the first leg of the Finals on May 7 at a place and time to be announced. The second leg of the championship will be played on May 14.
The second leg of the Semifinals was originally scheduled to be played at 10:30 a.m. at the Bicentennial Soccer Complex in McAllen. However, the matches were moved to the West Side Park on Ware Rd. Necias and Outlawed played after 10:30 a.m. and Black Angels and Tuzas kicked off at 12:30 p.m.
In the first match, goals by Karina Mendoza and Edna Gaytán gave Necias a 2-0 win (6-0 aggregate) over Outlaws. In the first-leg of the Semifinals, Necias routed Outlaws 4-0.
Black Angels, who played the entire match short-handed, struggled early against the Tuzas and went down 1-0 in the first 15 minutes of the match. The goal by Tuzas knotted the aggregate score 3-3. Black Angels won the first-leg match 3-2.
In the last minute of the game, Sandra Hernández dribbled the ball through several defenders before firing a shot from outside the box past the Tuzas’ goalkeeper that equalized the match 1-1. Seconds later the referee blew the whistle to signal the end of the match.
The draw gave Black Angels a 4-3 aggregate victory over the Tuzas and a trip to the Finals against Necias next Saturday.
